Environmental and ecological construction monitoring

In construction projects, it is often necessary to appoint a specialist in environmental or ecological construction monitoring. This is particularly important for developments in protected areas such as national parks, Natura 2000 sites, nature reserves and their adjacent regions.

The primary role is to ensure that any potential impacts from construction activities on nature and the environment are either avoided or minimised as effectively as possible.

  • We keep track of execution plans and advise developers and construction firms on compliance with approval conditions and the documents required by specialist authorities. This enables workflows to be adjusted and optimised early on, taking into account the specific characteristics of the area.
  • We (visually) inspect equipment.
  • We advise on the use of environmentally hazardous materials with a focus on avoidance and mitigation measures.
  • We provide training for all personnel involved in the project on the required conditions and protective measures.
  • We record and assess potential impacts of the construction project on environmental assets, such as sensitive animal and plant species.
  • We create documentation and undertake surveys to assess disturbances, such as to breeding birds and macrozoobenthos.
  • We monitor species behavioural patterns during construction activities on land and at sea, such as those of migratory and breeding birds or seals.
  • We provide on-site monitoring and environmental consultancy throughout the construction phase at the site.

Our extensive experience in environmental construction monitoring demonstrates that close cooperation between the relevant environmental authorities and the companies involved in construction significantly enhances the efficiency of the construction process.
