Data collection and mapping

Meticulous water- and land-based biological surveys are among our core strengths. Drawing on many years of experience of surveying plants and various animal groups, we map biotopes and Habitats Directive habitat types, as well as vegetation and fauna surveys. Several long-term monitoring projects support evidence gathering for planning applications and the evaluation of conservation compensation measures.

The wide range of expertise within our team enables us to carry out surveys across numerous species groups using a high proportion of our own permanent staff. Our services also include specialised survey methods, such as ship- and aircraft-based mapping of marine mammals and migratory birds, radar-assisted bird migration studies in the North and Baltic Seas, benthic community assessments, fish stock surveys using electrofishing, and telemetry-based bat surveys involving net captures.

The high proportion of in-house work for our surveys, even for large and long-term projects, has historical roots: the founders of our office were biologists with a passion for fieldwork. We continue this tradition, which provides us with an invaluable advantage in understanding and interpreting the data collected: we know what we are talking about.
